My guess is that it wasn't road rage.

Enraged drivers shoot, kill each other

http://www.wzzm13.com/news/article/2...ill-each-other

What's the likelihood that they both have guns? Maybe higher thank I would think, but I still bet it will turn out that this wasn't road rage at all and that these two guys knew each other and were having some kind of argument.

That happened not to far from me! Maybe a 40 mins away.
My theory is, that one guy married the other guys ex-wife and he thought he was trying bring her back to him!

"IONIA, Mich. (WZZM) -- Two drivers are dead after a road rage incident escalated into a shootout. The incident happened around 6:45p.m. Wednesday on M-66 near Steele Street.

Witnesses tell WZZM 13 a one driver was following another driver too closely. The first driver pulled into the Wonder Wand Car Wash parking lot and the other driver followed them into the parking lot.

Witnesses say the driver of the following car fired shots, and the first driver returned fire. Both drivers were shot and killed. Authorities say both men had licenses to carry concealed weapons.

The victims are both from Ionia. 56 year old Robert Taylor was driving a Chrysler P-T Cruiser. The other driver killed was 43 year old James Pullum, who was driving a Ford Taurus. According to Police, Pullum had two passengers in his vehicle, but neither was injured.

People at a nearby laundromat found both men laying on the ground and started performing CPR. AeroMed was called to the scene and landed, but did not transport a patient to the hospital."
.=================================

Sounds like the two idiot Mi state troopers that shot each other to death in their parking lot a few yrs back.

What can we learn?
others also carry guns
tailgating does not make idiots go faster or move out of the way; wait and go around.
GET THE F#$%K OUT OF THE FAST LANE if you must go "not fast"

Sounds like mutual suicide to me.

One was driving a PT cruiser and the other a ford taurus. No wonder they shot each other.

If I found I was driving a PT Cruiser or a Taurus, I'd shoot myself.

Unless the guy who was being tailgated was carrying a gun because he believed the guy behind him would find him and try to kill him.

The way the story sounds, it could easily be that Guy A was looking for Guy B, found him, chased him, Guy B pulled off thinking he could scare Guy A off with gun or defend himself better while not moving, both Guy A and Guy B had similar levels of firearms skills and similar levels of common sense, and both Guy A and Guy B are now dead.

Though it's a good idea not to bring a knife to a gun fight, it's an even better idea not to get into a gun fight in the first place.

It's looking more like an armed society would become the wild west. Everyone will be armed, and arguments will be settled by who can draw the fastest.

And this is a car-related issue. It's perfectly appropriate.

There'll always be idiots.

Put two together in the same place, and this is what happens.

Easy enough to not tailgate someone if they're moving too slow for your taste.
Easy enough not to pull over and confront some jerk who's tailgating you.

If you go out in the morning looking for trouble, odds are you'll find it.

Hmmm, up here mostly irate drivers just flip each other the bird and then carry on. We're basically an unarmed society in Canada. When I plan to travel in the US though, I plan on being ultra polite to avoid finding out who's packing or not. If it gets ugly, I think that's what 911 on my cell is for? BTW, did you know that when you dial 911 your cell becomes locked from the 911 command center? Found that out last year at a bad accident and was first on scene.

Even though I said what I said, I am not sure I agree it's a car-related issue. I just enjoy pointing out the absurd.

This is definately not the norm with CCW holders. I tend to think one guy drew and the other pulled to try and protect himself and they both ended up dead. It's a shame that the bad judgement was FLYING all over the place that night....and the one mans family had to witness it all go down.

Odd. Never happened to me (and I'd be really PO'd if it did). Could it be a Canadian thing?

I think that the subject of "Idiots Doing Stupid Things Behind the Wheel" is a fairly universal car discussion.

You said it was car related and then you say that you think it wasn't road rage at all?
You also think it's odd they both carry? A little confused are we?

Too stupid to live anyway. The world is probably a better place without them both either way.

Not at all. They're still driving cars. The article called it road rage, not me. Both of these are enough to make it car-related regardless of what I think was the ultimate cause of the incident.

Why do you care so much, anyway? "Car-related" cuts a wide swath, and most anything having even peripherally to do with a car could be considered car-related. There is no hard and fast definition of this.

No one is making you read this thread. If you don't like the topic, don't read it. I don't understand what skin it is off your nose if others DO consider it to be car-related and want to react to the article.

It's a big country. It's a big forum. There's room for many different interpretations.

We call that the Darwin theory. Eliminate enough idiots and eventually there will be no idiots. Well maybe fewer idiots anyway....Tedd

Except that the idiots always seem to reproduce fast enough to recoup their losses... and then some.

I was just in Ionia a couple days earlier -- drove right past that car wash.

Strange how people like to take the actions of a one or two hot heads and assume everyone would act like that, given the opportunity.

Might just be. I'm not that familiar with how 911 functions in the US. I was surprised though when that happened. There was something (can't remember what) that I had to do to unlock that stupid thing. It was annoying since the first responders and police had arrived and taken over. Didn't notice the lockout till 3 hours later...
