My 1972 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme Convertible - stowed away for the winter

I took my Olds for the last drive this season, & then put it into winter hibernation. Added sta-bil to the fuel, plugged the exhaust, & then pulled the battery. Here's a couple of photo's before storage & after.

Great looking car. Looks all tucked away by a family man.

Thanks No. 1. I remember for a few years I would drive into November, but nowadays October seems to be the end of the season for me. In the past I used to drive it quite frequently to work on the nice days, but when we moved the commute became too far & I don't really enjoy driving the Cutlass on the interstate. I prefer the country roads.

I would not put toys etc on top of car. I have a dent on top of one of my left front fender. Everytime I see it I get pissed at myself! Surprising how easy it can happen, even with a plastic tricycle wheel.

I would think it’s a little too early to go to bed, there’s a lot of good driving left until the salt man comes.

I have carpet underlayment under the cover on the hood so no worries about damage.

Except for scratches from the underlay.

Beautiful car, though.

Beautiful looking car.

We are now in spring down here in NZ, so it's time to get the cars out more often, although the weather has still been a bit crappy.

I am up here in Lansing. I usually run my fleet till November 1st and will shut down the last car around the 15th. Weather has been so sketchy this week, none of them have left their stalls.

Moth ***** rule! I also use slices of Irish Spring soap in aluminum pot pie dishes in the trunk and interior, DCON in the attic of the shop. So far, no problems.

As a teenager I hung evenly spaced weights on the folding top of my '50 Jeepster to avoid shrinkage. Seemed to work on that old canvas top, but a bit extreme for the Olds.

Thanks for your input. Stay warm.

I always keep the top up in storage, & after driving with the top down. Make sure you never raise or lower it when the temperature is below 40 degrees. I bought the car on a cold spring day in March years ago, & when the seller was demonstrating that the top mechanism worked correctly he tore the top on both sides. He then lowered the price by $500 & I bought it.

Sorry, I moved some posts but I wasn't quick enough.

x2 on not storing kid trikes or even carpet on your Olds. I get upset when the pool toys I hang from a peg board next to my 71 shift and lay on the roof or the windows.

What's the purpose of the white sheet / cloth on the top?
