Motor Mount Frame Brackets

I think this may be a Joe Padavano question.
After all these years, I'm still not clear on which is which .
The pics below are of 3 types of brackets that mount on the frame cross member
for motor mounts.
The one in the center is what I've seen on most "A" bodies, BBO and SBO, '64-'72.
The one on the right I think I removed from a '69 4-4-2 frame.
The left and middle ones seem to have the holes for the motor mount bolt
in approx. the same orientation.
The hole in the one on the right is not aligned with the other two.
I have no idea about the one on the left or why the '69 one is different.
Anyone know?

Joe has a thread with lots of info on these. They are not the same 64-72

The center ones look like 64-67 to me all bbo and sbo the same.

the taller ones look like 68-69 bbo

not sure about the other ones

I am searching for that thread.

No, no, no.

Contrary to popular belief, 1968 and 1969 are NOT the same. In the photo the middle bracket is 1964-1968 A-body for ALL Olds engines (I6 mounts are different) and 1969 SBO. These use 2261 motor mounts.

The LH bracket is 1970-72 A-body SBO and also uses 2261 mounts.

The RH bracket is 1969-72 A-body BBO and uses 2328 mounts.

And yes, this was shown back in April 2011 in the Motor Mount sticky:

A bit of crossover of years of many changes

no wonder no one but Joe can keep it straight. I am trying, but still not there.

Is this gonna be on the midterm?

Thanks for updating us again Joe.

I am saving this one as it seems to come up now and then.

Math is easy, mostly memorization

The sum from 1 to 442, integral of SX with a DX block

The log of the log intake to the power of torque... it's all Olds related.

Joe -- question on the motor mounts for these frame mounts? Is there a discernible visible difference in the 2261 and the 2328 mounts referenced above? Can you tell the difference just by looking at them? Is it possible to tell which one you are looking at if you are only looking at one and dont have another to compare it to? Ive got a whole bucket full of these and never took the time to try to I D them individually?

Yes. The 2261 mounts have the holes for the cross bolt about 3/4" closer to the bolt holes that attach to the block as compared to the 2328s. The difference matches the difference in the hole location in the frame mounts. The net result is that the block (and crank centerline) is in EXACTLY the same place if you use the 2261s with the Type 1 (or Type 3) frame mounts and the 2328s with the Type 2 frame mounts.

Just hold the motor mounts with the block mounting surfaces back-to-back and compare the heights of the cross bolt holes. There are only two options: low cross bolt hole (2328) and high cross bolt hole (2261). If I were at home I could post a photo of this, but I'm at work right now.
