This time of year in NE it doesntneed to rain to flash rust cool nights warm humider days, i couldnt help notice the rotors on my wafes car were covered w light rust like your frame after 1 night
Because each day there is a new shiny surface cooked nice n hot to burn off any contaminants. Raw clean iron.
Nothing of value gets left outside in NE from Sept to June, yep 2 lousy months.
According to PPG's paint manual ;
" Sandblasted surfaces should be coated within one half hour , to prevent flash rusting " .
And that's without any rain .
buddy of mine used to spread chicken crap,they would use a payloader to dump it into the spreader trucks,when they were done and dropped the bucket and shut the payloader off you could literally see the bucket starting to rust. before the next load it would have a good coat of rust.
My regular driver has been soaked and dripping at least a half dozen times during the past few weeks on nights with zero rain. On days like that I won't open my garage door until late morning.
OSPHO is what you seek
I had a 66 club dipped and it rained on it on the way home and had a slight haze of rust the next day
sprayed ospho on it and it was like a wave going over the car and rust disappeared
