Hi,
I have a 1968 Numbers Matching convertible with color code Y1. I painted it Tweety Yellow and Put a new black top on it. The gear set is not original as I had to have it serviced and it turns out it is a malibu gearset. Anyway, is it a bad idea to put a MOSER muscle PAK with some highway gears in it ? I was thinking that it would add value. It's not all original anyway, as I took the advice from here from long ago "paint it the way you want it, enjoy it, and if the buyer wants it original, let them go that route". Anyway with all that said, it would be nice to have posi and still keep the gear ratio because the car gets damn good "Smiles to the Mile" the way the gearing is now. It's not the original gear set. The ratio is, but the gears not, according to the shoppe that serviced the rear end. Any thoughts on this. It's about a 6k investment... Ha Ha... it's about a 6K addition to my heirs saving account I should say. Please ask me to clarify. I am typing one handed and it is arduous. Recovering from Shoulder surgery. Attaching some pictures for fun.
thanks all in advance.

Moser is obviously a well-respected name in rear axles. As for the actual ratio you select, it depends on how the whole car is set up and how you plan to use it. Personally I'm not a fan of highway gears for a musclecar. These engines were designed to run all day long at 70 MPH with mid-3-series gear ratios. People who are used to modern cars with OD for gas mileage aren't used to that.
Taking a quick look at the Moser Muscle Pak 12 bolt. Ouch, as said 5K with any sort of options and then shipping. The tallest gear available is a 3.08 ratio, middle of the range for factory gear ratios. What gears are in it now?
