In a moment of weakness, I bought the 1967 Olds 98 LS

Well... I didn't plan to buy it and really don't need it. But is sure is a sweet car This is the car I'd shared about in the thread below. The little old lady who owned it advertized it on Craigslist and only had two people express interest. One wanted to cut it up For now I think I'll just use it as a daily driver. I don't have a long commute to work so gas milage won't be critical for me. Until recently it had sat for 7 years. A friend of hers changed all the fluids and put in a new battery. I expect there will be a few more quirks pop up. But I've got plenty of spare parts and at least I don't need to plug it into a computer to work on it! The sun is starting to go down, I'll have to get some better pictures in the sunlight to show the exact shade of blue.

It's a beautiful car John. Congrats on the purchase. I can't think of anyone who will look after it better than you. I remember looking at the thread you posted on it. Color really looks wonderful in the sun.

BTW, nice little wagon you've got there. A little sandblasting, paint and drop in a Binford 3328 and it'll pop wheelies!

Looks like the vines are trying to reclaim the house....

Yeah, I missed the fall pruning so this spring I really need to hack things down. When they're covered with green leaves and flower blooms they don't look so bad

The little red wagon.... a buddy was using it as a flower planter until his wife made him get rid of it. So it found a home with me. Is that a pattern? Neglicted unwanted mechanical things wind up at my house!

This thing must have always have been in a garage. Look at that vinyl top. This is a pretty car. I am glad you saved this one. Some people have homeless dogs follow them home. You have homeless cars. At least you don't have to feed them all the time and take them to the vet. Good job.

Happy New Year John

awesome car, im assuming if you did not need it the price made you have to buy it! i have been there many times. if you hit that possibly original paint with some 3000 grit and a careful buff, she would shine like a diamond for sure.

Yes, it is hard to pass something so nice... especially knowing someone else wants to cut the roof off and make a custom somethingorother

It has been garaged all its life, but I'll not be able to keep that up. I'm considering one of the portable carports with metal roofing. That would at least keep the rain off and reduce the sun damage.

The appraiser told her $4200 which I think is high, especially in this economy. Yes, I got it for much less.

I've got some of those on the old post, when I first saw the car. The dash magnets are from car shows 1995-2005. I believe 2005 is when her husband passed away and due to her vision she can't drive, so the car had just been sitting. Here's the link to the other post. The interior does need cleaned and there is some damage to the cloth seat covers, drivers seat back. This is the same material as my 1967 Cutlass 4 door car. Now I have a matched set!

Congratulations, John! That's a fine vehicle, and I'm glad to see it's going to a good home.
I seem to recall someone expressing the hope that it would go to the right buyer - looks like that happened.

I hope it treats you real well!

Happy New Year!

Needs a little tlc, but a decent car. Is that a vanity in the center of the front seatback? I like that all of the info for air cleaner etc. was written on the air cleaner cannister.

Going to a good home... yeah I think I remember someone saying that!

...a vanity in the seat back. I didn't know what that was until you said this and when I went out to look here's what I found! Although I'm still not sure what the clips on each side are for.

The late owner was a car guy, and his widow gave me a folder full of documentation of work he's done on the car. It also included the owners manual and protectoplate documentation. Its going to take me a while to go through everything and crawl over the car real well but so far I'm happy with what I'm finding.

That's a thing of beauty! I had a '67 98 Holiday Coupe in high school. While attending tech school, I stumbled upon and bought a '67 98 LS in the same or similar color combination as yours. Both were awesome road cars. I shouldn't admit it, but that coupe saw three figures many many times! I've never had anything that ran as smoothly and effortlessly as those 425s.

Beautiful car! Dare I call dibs if you ever decide to sell?

Today its the new toy, but as I mentioned in the first post I don't really need the car. If your really into them send me a PM to discuss it.

I would not have let that one get away either!

The cavities either side of the rear mirror are tissue dispensers, so the ladies look great when they step out of the back seat at the opera.

I have one of those but it's a coon infested trashed pile of rust now. Yours is gorgeous.

So it is.

Look closely at the chrome strip between the front and rear window glass.

I hadn't noticed that myself either.

John,

My grandmother had one of those. When we finally sold it in the '90's, it had 75K on it. Champagne with a cloth interior, seats were covered with the clear vinyl when new, it was immaculate still! Talk about a road car, easily topped 100 with the Ultra High Compression Rocket under the hood! Brings back the memories,

John,
It just struck me. Your 67 Cutlass sedan and the 67 LS side by side look like they're the same color! Are the paint codes the same (weathering aside)?

Outstanding...many memories in that car. Dad and Mom looked so good in that car.
I can remember my Mom taking tissue from the back and prepping herself for the big night out. This car was the new style. this car hooked my dad for the 98 until he passed in 1989.

What a great car! I think my next long-term daily driver is going to be something like this. I don't want people to think I don't like modern cars, I want them to KNOW.

I did not care for the looks of these cars when they were new in 1967, but I have since come to appreciate the styling. That is a beautiful car. The 98 is my favorite Olds. I have a 76 Regency but I love the ones from the 60's.
