Mecum Portland Curiosity

Watching the auction, noticed every car has a strap dangling under the front end, mostly L/F.
Anyone know what it is there for?

Saw that also.
I was guessing a grounding strap first but it looks like a tie down. Then again some appeared to be on the steering linkage.

I also notice that when a car rolls up on the block when they raise the hood they take a small bag out and toss it to somebody. I am guessing this is paperwork for the car. Anybody know.

it's not a bag it's a piece of foam rubber to keep hood open so they don't have to fish for latch and the strap is for the man driving the 4 wheeler to pull car. some states have different rules about bringing car inside or driving with other people around, plus insurance regulations

Makes sense.

Why do I see what appears to be tape over the gas tank caps at either Mecum and/or Barrett Jackson?

Makes sense x 2. I’m sure different cities & venues have different rules, regs & procedures.

I went to B-J in CT & spent most of my time in the catacombs (sitting in Fast & Loud’s parked golf cart ) where I could see & hear the cars drive through, also had a big screen so I could see the auction. Just behind the entry to coliseum floor/stage they had the pedestrian path blocked until a car would be held up to allow opening the gate allowing folks to pass. They drive onto the stage then pushed them out & worked the traffic crossing cycle, the well orchestrated traffic pattern took 6-8 people.
