Mecum auction, 70 W30 ragtop

Ralley red convertible w/dualgate sold for $44,000 today. Seemed cheap, supposedly retsored, looked good of course on the box.

I also saw lot F287 listed - a silver 68 F85 W-31. Could be coming up soon if anyone's watching Velocity now...

Lot F287 is a Vette, are you sure it's the Kissimmee Auction?

A nice Rallye 350 just went for $16,500 at 8:03pm, it was scheduled for 8:55pm, so you will have to stick close if you want to catch a certain car.

Not much. It's a really nicely done car. The dash pin stripes look to be the wrong size.

The positive battery cable even runs correctly over the valve cover

The 68 442 convertible sold for $54,000. That's very strong money. That 68 4 speed convertible that sold at BJ two years ago for $120k really screwed the market up. (or made the market great, if you're selling )

Thanks.

I looked at that 68 a few years ago at Hershey and they showed me $147000 in bills???? They were asking $85000 then..
If anyone knows who bought it I would be interested in talking to them.

Searching Mecum website I found the car. It is really not a surprise it was so cheap. The engine looks like crap. It certainly was not restored.

It is hard to tell how good the body is, but the interior, while acceptable, does not look restored either. To me the car looks like it sits low in the back, an indication of old springs, so I am guessing that no true restoration was made....perhaps a maaco paint job a few years ago. Also, with a top notch restoration they usually fix the mis-alignment of the hood's front edge with the fender - I see this on lots of cars including my unrestored w-30.

And the market continues to get played by dealers:

I'm pretty sure this is the same blue car that sold at Mecum two weeks ago for $54k. BIN for $99,900.00
