So there is a 1970 Cutlass with an original W-30 hood that has a VIN that is no recognized on Olds Vin decoder which has me puzzled. Because of the Pantina I question if it might be a Rallye. It's been sitting in a yard and alot of surface rust. Here is the cowl tag as it reads:
ST 70 33277LAN386226 BDY
TR 90G _ _ PNT
03A
The 33277LAN386226 Keeps coming up as not recognized.
Any thought or info is appreciated.

That's not the VIN. The VIN is riveted to the dash in the windshield.
Thought the center grouping I.E 33277LAN386226 was the Vin also. Now I have to check my 72's Vin and cowl tag. Either way is there any way of telling what this car started out as?
From the pictures it would be the correct Yellow under the rust and looks like the front bumper was painted yellow also. They did not post a picture of the Vin tag at the windshield.

It's hard to prove the car without paper documentation. All you can do is look at clues like the bumpers and the - - indicating special paint. The car can be painted any color available from GM in 1970 and still be "correct" due to that, but the sebring yellow was always indicated with - -.
33277 with the the beginning of the VIN. It should read 332770MXXXXXX (for the last 6 numbers).
33277 tells you the model, I.E. F-85, which may have the W31 or the Rallye 350 option. Neither one can be verified by the vin. Requires factory paperwork. It is not a W30 hood, it is the option W25 which gives you the O.A.I. package, which is standard on the W30. W31, Rallye 350, and the pace car replicas for 1970. The W25 option could have been chosen on an F85 Cutlass, or a Cutlass S, without it being any of those models listed above.
Sorry, I meant W-25 hood, Not W-30 The engine does not have the Ram air assembly, just a chrome Edelbroke air cleaner on it. Here is a front shot of the car.
Svnt442,
It does have the -- -- on the cowl tag as you had mentioned as special paint ( see above ) cowl tag picture. And as you can see and paint looks like it is a Sebring yellow in picture last thread, That is what made me question that this car might be a Rallye 350. I'm not purchasing it, as I already have a restored 72 Cutlass Supreme convertible and don't have the time or space to take on another project. But thoought this be a neglected Rallye for someone to bring back to its true glory with some work and $$.
This is my car. which belonged to my Father from 1980 till he passed in 1998. I started a 7 year restoration in 2004 in my Father's memory and have been proudly showing it in competitions since 2008.

Thanks it has been a long journey, but I love it and I hope my Dad approves of what I did with it. It was a stock Viking Blue Cutlass Supreme. Same colors as now but just fresher. Only think not redone on it is the frame. Here is a picture of it when he had it up in Maine as a Summer cruiser.
The traces of Sebring yellow paint on the body & bumper say Rallye 350. So do the blacked out grills.
But the silver bezels and lack of sports mirrors make me wonder.
