An Oldsmobile Chassis Service Manual is the way to go. You can find them for each model year on eBay and some are sold by Fusicks.com and other online vendors of Oldsmobile parts.

You can expect to pay anwhere from $25 to $70 for an original manual (dependent on condition) and similar for reproductions.

Depending on the year, you will need two manuals, a Chassis Service Manual and a Fisher Body Manual. These are available on ebay. I've had bad luck with the bootleg CD copies. I only get used original paper manuals.

eBay.

You've just gotta keep your eyes open. With generic items like these, that come up over and over again, sometimes they don't get bid on and you can grab 'em.

Just do a saved search and Ebay will email you whenever a new auction matching your search comes up.

The "right" answer depends on how often you intend to reference the information. Unless you want to print a few pages for specific topics, you'll have to go thru 2 reams of paper and an ink cartridge to print the entire manual. I like to have the entire book available at a moments notice.

I doubt you'll find a 1970 chassis manual for $8 shipped. I watched eBay for 2 months before finding my manual at a reasonable price.

1972 manuals are probably fairly popular, too, so you'd be pretty lucky to spend less than $20.

Cost me $5 to have it printed & 3 hole punched at a local staples in Colour. Looks great and I don't need to worry about getting it dirty. If it gets too dirty I can print that section again or even the whole book. No big deal.

If you have an office with a decent printer you can do it there.

Yeah, but you lose some clarity in the wiring diagrams.

The online / saved-to-computer versions are the greatest thing since sliced bread, and I use them all the time (no need to carry manuals everywhere), but in my opinion, there is still no substitue for the original printed manual for your car.

I didn't loose any clarity in the wiring diagrams. I have a perfect original copy to compare it to. Just would rather not get it dirty.

Weird.

When I view the downloaded wiring diagram pages from WildAboutCars they are always at a degraded resolution.

And, yes, my computer I'd good, my software is up to date, and I know what I'm doing on a computer.

Curse you, autocorrect.

I'll fix the typo when I get home.
