Maniac was on the Prowl

Every once in a while the fever strikes. This particular car has been for sale on Craigslist for years. Every time I see it the "sickness" strikes but I have managed to fight it off... till now. At 3500 I thought this 67 Turnpike Cruiser needed to be checked out. It has the 400 Cimatic Combustion 2bbl engine with dual exhaust. It retains its 241 posi rear with 442 steel wheels and suspension. It is column shifted turbo 400 car with Rally Pack gauges. Its a project for sure with body rot and I still need to see the extent. When I get into it I will start a build thread. Came with new floors and trunk floor and a bunch of extra stuff. At some point it was going to be cloned into a 442 but I will put it back to its heritage, Cutlass Supreme TC.

Looks sweet. Has it been inside for a long time, if so I'm surprise it needs so much work.
It does look like a great find.
Good luck

Kinda weird this one... dash pad nice and soft as well as roof rail weatherstrip. Interior dirty but no holes. Mice chewed 2 nice holes in headliner. Pretty unmolested throughout but it has seen salt. Trunk floor has some decent rot. Front fenders lower some rot that makes me say "fenders needed" Floors a little weak in a couple of areas. Rear quarters/wheelwells have patchable rot. My biggest worry is rockers and inner rockers need some serious rot repair. I hope the body mounts are good. Engine and trans reported to be good but has not run in 8 years but engine turns. Original white, with champagne interior. It does have the optional front disc brakes.

At $3500 I think that car is a great buy, hopefully the rust isn't too much of an issue.

You'd be crazy to pass it up at that price.

With this one it will be a little while before I can jump into it as I am still working on the 67 C30 hauler. I do want to pull the tank to look for build sheet. I am desperate to see if the Rally gauge package was original. I question this because of the shift indicator which is PRNDL. With the Turbo 400 it should read PRNDSL

I looked the car over good today. No surprises so far but no cheap and quickie job will bring this one back. Guess Its time to start a build thread, as soon as I get some pictures.

Great score! The interior looks super nice Joe. If you don't have to replace it, that will save you a ton of time & money.

Thanks everyone for your comments. Yes the interior is pretty nice with only the carpet and headliner needing replacement. And the major components are here unlike my 442 project that was just a shell.

I cant wait to dive into this car but the C30 hauler is a must to get roadworthy so I need to concentrate on that. Yeah the workshop is great for rainy or winter work since the truck in no way can go inside there.

Had a few hours to pull bumpers, hood, gas tank and a fender. No build sheet found and tank looks to have been replaced at some point. It is not a Lansing car but (Framingham?) Bumpers are good cores. Fender has been patched shottily. Found little rot on lower cowl/firewall bottom. Inner and outer rockers do need some work at front. A couple of body mounts need replacement. Hood needs some pinholes welded up at front edge. Will start a build thread soon even though the work will be slow goin.

'67 442 = 24,829
'67 TPC about 2,350

Good guess.

I did not have the numbers but I think it was an easy guess now that I see them.
