Malware spreader?

Running Google Chrome, I was using the search feature here on mufflers, after bouncing around a bit, I tried to open an older thread when Google popped up with a warning it would not open it because it would link me to
streetmachinecentral DOT com a known malware distributor according to Google! Did not force open the link, just backed out, anybody know anything about this "street machine central" website?

Thumbs down

Site most definitely contains malware. Forced chrome to site and immediately received 3 attacks of Blackhole exploit kit.

How do you know?

What OS / Platform are you using?

What is Blackhole exploit kit?

When I went to it with Chrome, it just loaded the header and then seemed to hang up, so I closed it.

I am running Windows 7 64bit and received the same attacks in both Chrome and Firefox. In the most basic terms the function of the Blackhole Exploit is to find potential vulnerabilities in unpatched or unprotected systems mostly via Java and lesser amounts the backend of PHP and SQL. But it isn't the main threat when dealing with it, the main threat is that when it finds vulnerabilities it can potentially open up the system to more damaging malware. Knowingly or unknowingly that site is distributing the malware but even basic antivirus and malware scanners easily pick up the attack. You can safely view the site as long as you have the proper protection in place but if you are unsure it's best to avoid it.

Chrome may not have flagged it for me because I'm on a Mac.
My Java and security versions are up to date.

Interesting, though.

As the old joke goes, Loks like it... Smells like it... Feels like it... Tastes like it... Better walk around it!

Yep, if you are on a Mac you have nothing to worry about.
