Made in Canada

I currently own a '69 442 that was made in Canada. I also own a '69 Chevelle SS, and through the years, I have heard of and read about Chevelle's that were made in Canada were easy to authenticate as true SS cars because GM of Canada kept records of the cars that they built. Does anyone know if this is also true with a 442?

Also, is there anything else different about the cars from Canada besides the rear? I read that the car should have a Chevrolet 12 bolt instead of an Oldsmobile 12 bolt.

Thanks for the help.

Hi and welcome aboard.

Yes, GM of Canada does have an historical archive for Canadian built cars AND for cars imported to the Canadian market. Here is a link to the page request: http://www.vintagevehicleservices.co...tion_73.45.pdf

George Zapora runs this section.

The only thing different about a 1969 Cutlass/442 besides the rear axle is the cowl tag and the fact it was built in Oshawa.

Thank you Allan. I will be sending that out this week. My car did come with the Protect-O-Plate, but that is it. The engine and trans are numbers matching as well.

Yes, you are correct on all counts. Of course, "authenticating" your car is easy, since the 344... VIN gives it away.
