I will replace my 6.2L Yukon Denali with another GM 6.2L, I have a cold air and mild muffler with a tune and the thing is a beast, still gets great fuel mileage and with drag 6K boat no problem with its 6 speed trans!!! I am very happy.

There are good deals right now on the the '12 GM trucks. I personaly prefer GM products but my old man has one of those new Ecoboost Ford trucks and I must say it runs quite well. I just don't care for the looks much. I would never buy anything but a GM or Ford (in that order) as I despise the offshore brands even if they do assemble some of them here. Likewise I will not buy a truck with a domestic badge that is assembled out of this country (Avalanche, GM 1/2 ton crew cab, certain Ram models) as I feel this is just as bad.

on my 96 Burban the rear passenger inside door handle is busted. and now the drivers door is starting to fail on me.. How hard are those to replace Jamesbo.

I am ready to want to replace this burban. it needs an exhaust system (both cat's are gone) it needs the Mass air flow sensor, an ABS sensor as well as the AC Compressor..
but alas. that budget is keeping me from fixing it or replacing it.
I only use it for towing and seeing how the ground is white My big trailer only sits.. and I tow my truck bed trailer with it..

So, which nationality of workers will you be stiffing, and whose shareholders, bankers, CEOs, crony capitalists, and other ne're-do-wells will you be enriching with this purchase?

Doesn't matter. No matter which vehicle you buy, you're making money for some non-U.S. person and/or some creepy capitalist somewhere!

Surprised no one here drives an Oldsmobile truck. Bravada anyone? Haha, I kid. I've owned and sold a few, I could never get much interest in them so I stopped buying them at the auction. They were nice though.

True.
So I'm buying the truck I want for me and I just wont worry about where the money goes. I feel that new vehicle purchases are hard enough to make so I wont concern myself where my $ is going.
But I hope its going towards a truck that will last and that I will syill like and enjoy long after I'm through making payments.
I've decided to go with my 1st choice which is a Toyota Tacoma double cab 4x4.
Going to wheel and deal with the dealership here to find me a 2012 that never got sold to hopefully get a price break.
I test drove 3 of these yesterday and it seems like a great truck to suit my needs. Also test drove a few Chevys and GMCs.
The fullsize trucks have geat power but are HUGE. The cnayons and colorados are a waste of everything. Total junk.
I know some on here wont care for my decision but, its my decision.
Thanks again for all the input. Really dig this site!

I know someone that just bought a colorado and hates it already. no power, too small and cheap feeling. I know a couple guys with toyota's and they are nice trucks and pull good. I have used it to pull boats out with no problem and one was 7000 pounds with the trailer, pulled up the ramp easily. one has a F350 that he uses to pull his big boat but the toyota see's the most use. I dont think you will be disappointed in it.

Why? Lots of Toys are built in USA by Americans. What is wrong with that? The Lexus line especially are great automobiles.

I prefer my cars/trucks to be be built in the U.S.A. AND be from a U.S. owned/based company. I guess I'm just old school. I have even turned down taxi rides numerous times because the cabbie was driving an import. I just wait for the next domestic cab.

I have two friends who each bought a Tacoma in the last year and a half. One bought new, the other bought one about three years old. Both have the full four-door models, and both love their trucks.

If you want a mid-size truck, your choices are more limited. The Dodge Dakota, which is what I have, is gone. The only domestic makes are Chevy Colorado/GMC Canyon, and those have had their share of negative press. After that, so far as I know, it's Nissan Frontier or Toyota Tacoma.

Enjoy your truck!

I'm not that brand loyal. Given the time of day I think all vehicles are crap or on another day, their all great.
I wish I was shopping for a cramped little suv/mini wagon cuz it seems all makes are building these. Same goes for ugly hybrids.
At a Toyota lot the other day and there were probably 25 prius's to choose from but only 5 Tacomas.
If I needed a suv I'd be buying a 07-09 Trailblazeer SS.
If I needed a small comuter car, Ford Focus.
Behemoth work truck GMC or Ford.
Midsize quadcab 4x4 pickup, Toyota Tacoma.
See how this works.

I'm all for buying American but if my choice is limited than I'm gonna buy whats out there.

I agree you have to buy what works for you , I am also a die hard buy american guy but our big 3 arent making what people want . and they arent promoting a good midsize truck with a diesel engine . as bad a truck the rabbit truck was as a truck it got 45 to 55mpg? now with clean burning diesel trucks it should be a no brainer for them.

Went to a couple more dealerships today. 1 toyota 1 chevy and 1 GMC.
Toyota only had 5 trucks to choose from in the Tacoma lineup and only 1 quadcab.
Chevy and GMC had alot more fullsize quadcabs but prices are upper 30k to mid 40K. No freakin way!!!!!
I can get a fully loaded Tacoma for upper 20k to 30k.
A friend of mine had a rabbit truck when I was younger and he drove the wheels off it, 400k miles +

If you ever need an American midsize 4 door truck, I have the solution for you Chadman.

Take an XJ cherokee, and weld the rear half of an MJ Comanchee on the back.

I'll keep this short and use numbers that matter to us. 6 cylinder, 456hp/910tq to the wheels, a spinning 14.5@101 in the 1/4 and when towing this, averaged 17.2 mpg from Los Angeles, Ca-Scottsdale, Az and back, effortless towing. Best of 24 mpg. My '06 Ram 2500 Quad Cab, Cummins powered. 422302_2436297766986_1838000888_1525232_1519475273_n.jpg

It is interesting Jaunty but kind of in line with anyone who wants to sell cars in China. You must partner with one of their state run companies, build in their factories with parts made there, and give up your intellectual property. Sounds fair, right?
