Legit or not

I need some advice, Ive had my 1966 442 for sale with Hemmings for the last 6 months. Today I recieved a call from a guy ( Eddie Cullin ) He said he was representing a company named THE STEVEN EDWARDS CO.DBA. WORID WIDE INVESTMENT CARS. They are out of Las Vegas(he had seen my car in the April issue of HEMMINGS) This Eddie fellow said they mainly deal with buyers from other countries and he already has some potential buyers for my car. He says that his company acts as a bank and escrow agent, He stated that most of his cars sell in less then 30 days, because they have thousand of dealers worldwide. They have a nice web site that states an A+rating with the BBB. This is what made me skeptical .He said that he needed 12 clear pics and a list of all the cars features that had to be translated in 35 different languages and he ask if i had anyone who could do this ,he even suggested that i go to our local college to see if they could do it.If not his company has a service that will do it for 250.00.I just remember the old addage that if it sounds to good to be true it probably is.

ANY COMMENTS , THANKS. TOM

Wants you to do the translating, etc. ?
I don't like out of country deals and people who cold call to help sell a car for me. I would be careful. Good luck.

Also call the Vagas BBB and See if they check out. Websites sometimes say A+ but are not A+ at the BBB.

Sounds like they are trying to scam 250 dollars. Tell them they can do the translating, and give them pics, but not of anything like the cowl tag or the vin tag. Also, do no escrow. Cash in hand or wire transfer/cashier's check cleared before car leaves you.

Sounds to me it may be a $250 scam... He (Eddie Cullin) said he is representing a company, and then he says "his company" has a service that charges $250... Too many hands in the pot... IMO a direct deal is the only way to make a deal and be reasonably safe...

I find the wording is very misleading...they say the consignment etc is "Free"...until sold. Very little comment about the dealer commission (10-25%) and finder's fee.

Their constant identification of the HAMB as a dealer website is kind of irritating too!

x2

I would even be hesitant to give them pictures. Do you already have pictures on Hemmings?

Tell him to go pound sand and get a legit job. Unless said joker shows up at my door with a fist full o dollars nothing sight unseen goes without suspicion, not this day and age. Run son dont walk.

Did he go into his/their commission?
No one works for free.

But having you do the leg work of translation is BS.
There's always babelfish.com

Here's how to say "heated leather seats" in German!
beheizte Ledersitze

And in Ukranian:
підігрівом шкіряні сидіння

Have him send you the proposed contract and his credentials before going any further.

Don't you have a local specialty car sales place in your area that sell theses type of cars? That way you would know who you are dealing with, and you can check in with them every now and then to see whats going on. I just sold a 94 Vett that way, took 7 month to sell, and only charged me a fee up front, and asked me how much money I had to get out of it , and then they add money to your price. The big advantage they have over you, is they will finance a deal, and do shipping, which is something I won't do.

Was trying to sell a boat about 10 years back. Went with one of those services and aside from charging me a small fortune up front they just used my boat to sell other boats. Advertised it then used it as the first boat so he could show better quality boats and get a sale on the others. I sold the boat on my own and they still had it listed 4 years later.

IMO This site first, then Craigs list or Ebay, don't waist your time with the other route.

Scam.

If they were REALLY an international business, that REALLY wanted to sell your car, they would NEVER risk allowing you to translate anything into 35 languages. They'd do it themselves to be sure it was done right.

Besides, there are only about seven languages in the world that are vital to international commerce:
Chinese, Russian, Japanese, German, French, Spanish, and... ummmm... Oh yeah, English.
Anyone with the cash and ability to buy a high-value item internationally will speak at least one of these, and usually one of these, PLUS English.

Total BS.
