Lansing built Camaros

Going across town the other day, can't stop to get photo of 100's of the new Camaros we are building. But then another day I have a minute to spare, and many of them are sitting with lights on, running- awaiting transport I guess. Stopped for a few pictures.

The close shot of the black car shows it emitting steam, if you can see that. It was steaming a LOT, coming out of the grille area, hood joints, under the engine. Probably a coolant leak.

Being a caring individual I went to the security guard at the gate and interrupted his busy day with a bit of chat about the new cars, and mentioned that the one there was spewing steam. He dismissed it as nothing to worry about, because they "have just been built, you know." Yeah, sir, ok. How come exacly NONE of the 100 other running cars are spewing steam like a 1920 locomotive then?

Sigh

One can only do so much. If they fry the engine they can just make another one. I think we probably have a few extras. I can't care more than they do.

They are such sexy cars! Stupid fun to drive unless pavement is wet. ;-)

New car steaming

I picked up a new 2014 Impala last year for work and they had just washed it really quick. When they pulled up to deliver it, I noticed a lot of steam coming from the front that looked like a coolant leak. I asked and was told it was normal, but I made him open up the hood to look for myself. They said it was the coating from the factory still burning off. Indeed, it did not have a coolant smell and the steam went away after a little bit. No problems with it and it now has 22,000 miles. It only had 15 miles on the odometer at delivery. I wonder if this was the same thing on the Camaro.

That might be explained by the part where this one was front and center, possibly the latest one brought in. Still venting its smells.

Well, I will beg to differ on the latest mustang. They missed the boat on that one, but the previous ones looked great. I would agree that the Camaro still needs help.
