JEGS or Summit?

I'm in the process of ordering a bunch of parts and having them shipped to a U.S. address (I'm Canadian). Both of these companies offer the same items at the same prices and the shipping/handling seems to be similar, does anybody have preferences or any issues experienced with either company?

I have always used Summit...great customer service, no complaints. I have sent a few parts back because I changed my mind on the direction of things and they had not issue refunding....not saying Jegs would be any different, but I haven't used them.

Both have treated me well. Summit often uses UPS; Jegs uses Fed Ex ground. when I'm in NV, I have to pay sales tax with Summit as they have a warehouse in Sparks NV (not an issue for you, of course).

I cant even count how many times Ive ordered from Summit and never had a problem. There customer service, tech line is very good and I have returned and exchanged parts without a problem. Never dealt with Jegs only because I never had a problem with Summit.

I buy from Summit mainly because their web site is a hell of a lot easier to navigate than Jeg's site is.

For example: If you want headers, on Summit you go and insert the info about your car and it gives you all the choices that will fit. On Jeg's you have to pick the brand of header you want, and then hope there's an option.

Started out with Jegs many years ago mainly because of their 800 number. Bought very few parts from Summit. I like dealing locally if I can now-a-days.

Summit...Jegs prices are comparable but when you buy enough from Summit you get Summit bucks for buying certain items...definitely a plus when you're spending your hard earned money.

I buy from Summit, actually AtechMotorSports,Summits racers wholesale division. I have an account with them and there's some big markups on somethings, less on others and sometimes no difference between Atech and Summit pricing.I just bought a pair of DynoMax Super Turbo mufflers and saved $6,not a lot but every little bit helps.

I,ve orderd from both,no problems with either company.Summit seems more personable to me.I've been buying there about 10 yrs.Ironiclly,I'm sending my first part back tommorow. Both parties at fault. When i called to complain, they sent a UPS label ,so i don't have to pay any shipping. They also sent a $25 dollar gift certificate.Hard to beat that kind of service.IMHO,BO

I use both.

Jegs really shocked me with their customer support when I bought the Weld wheels for my car, first ordered 15x4 rims for up front and when I saw they weren't street legal they sent a UPS Truck to pick them up to be exchanged for 15x5 rims for free, no return or shipping charges for the 15x5 rims they sent me.

BTW, Weld 15x5 rims are actually 6 inches wide and the 15x4 are 3.5 inches wide, I don't know why but now I know.

You probably cant go wrong with either. Though actually never bought anything from Jeg's, would feel comfortable buying there. Summit's probably got half my paycheck's though. Rock Auto's good, but really more for OEM replacement parts. Dont think you'll be finding custom coated long tube exhaust headers there.

Summit will go the extra mile to help you if one of their suppliers has shipped you bad parts.

Rock Auto will also stand up for you.

Jegs not so much.

This is due to my experiences with all of them.

I like Rock Auto too, but I buy a lot of upgraded parts.

Although I bought all my brakes for the Alero at Rock Auto. It was an upgrade for the Alero.

Front: Stock 98-02 Camaro dual pistion Calipers and 00-05 Chevy Impala rotors in the front (huge 12 inch rotors) Drilled and slotted

Rear: All 2005 Pontaic GXP calipers and rotors, just drilled

Looks sweet! Did a panic stop, 70-0, at a red light at the end of a highway once. The stock Alero brakes would have put me 1/2 way over the line, the new set up, stopped about 50 feet short of the line, and had to put my eyes back in my skull

I TRIED to order stuff from rock auto once...

I built up an order of 8 or so items to make the order worth it... But when it came time to check out, they were shipping the items from 4 different warehouses, so... 4 different shipping charges! In some instances the shipping charges were a greater expense than the item they were shipping! Did the math and buying local was cheaper.

Summit is the way to go. No BS... You can call and get a hold of a human, and if there is an issue with the order, they will let you know and continually update you. All that AND no shipping games!

I have used both and both are easy to deal with. That said, I find Summit's price a little better on most items and their customer service is great.

Thats good information to know, as havent purchased much from Rock, but experience's been good. Most everything I've bought is from Summit though. While moving off topic here on shipping, ordered some digital multi meters from Parts Express as gifts, and hit me for $11 bucks shipping. Pretty darn nice little meters though, and only $4 bucks each.
