It's been a while.....

Hi guys
I was the one with the 1971 Oldsmobile Cutlass back in November.
As you all probably know, I sold it for 1000.
After that I purchased a 1992 Ford Explorer
Sold it for 1900
Now I have a 1992 Lexus Sc400
I'm going to sell it soon, and when I sell that, I want to get another "classic fixer-upper"
It's a little early right now, but what would be the best car to start out with with "extreme makeover"?
Thanks!

That comes down to personal preferences. But since you had a 1971 Cutlass 4 door before, how about trying a 2 door Cutlass, Cutlass Supreme or even 442?

Richard over in Texas has a 1970 Cutlass Wagon that he'd offered up for sale a while back. I think that would be a fun project and nice driver when done... but I have a soft spot for wagons!

To be totally honest? Instead of getting a fixer upper, get one that's turn key. I remember that there were issues with tools or getting someone to help with your 71 engine. I know that you may have interpreted some of our comments differently than what we intended them too.

Why would you go through that hassle again when you don't have to?

X2, then all you would have to do is some minor personalization and maintain it. It will be less frustrating and you will gain experience as you do the normal maintanence.

How cheap is cheap? If you are talking $2,500 get the most solid car your money can get you.

??? Why would you expect an Olds forum to be recommending you go buy a Chevy??

So did you go look at it or planning to? 4700 sounds like a good price. Just a thought - might be worth your while to have it safety inspected before buying. Check for maintenance records from the owners.
