No, not the yellow 64, it's the white 68 convertible - the alleged "W-30 stripe delete" car. Same dealer as before, same photos, but no engine shots and no one-of-none claims this time. Advertised as a 442 only.

I see engine shots, complete with W-30 hose plumbing and QR tag (325 hp/auto) on the oil filler tube, so it does seem like they've given up trying to pass it off as a W-30. The text refers to it having a "Numbers Matching V-8 (325-hp)" engine.
I guess it's just a very nice, but overpriced 4-4-2 convertible.

Hard to see how this misrepresents it:
Of course some of the listed equipment is standard on the 68 442
but aside from just being way overpriced, it's a really nice looking car.

but aside from just being way overpriced, it's a really nice looking car.
A year ago this was "one of 43 W-30 convertibles built" and "believed to be the only triple white stripe delete convert". By the way, the asking price hasn't gone down since then. Note the photos in the 2018 Russo and Steele ad are exactly the same ones in the current ad. Also note that ironically, this car DID come with W-36 stripes originally, as proven by the emblem location.

And from photos in prior ads, the Protect-O-Plate shows an OH trans code. In 1968, the OH version of the TH400 was only used behind the 2bbl 290 HP L65 Turnpike Cruiser motor (in 1968, the H/Os got an OW trans). That means this was NOT originally a "325 HP" car - it was a 2bbl car with a 2.56 rear axle. Of course, with all the non-original parts that were added during the restoration (like the 4bbl, the O.A.I., the reproduction red inner fenders, and who knows what else), the fact that it has a "numbers matching" block is kind of irrelevant. Nothing else on the car is original. The trans tag has been doctored to say "OW" now, or at least it had been the last time this car came up for sale. That was one of the big red flags the last few times this car was offered - the trans code on the P-O-P didn't match the code on the tag.
Run, don't walk, away...

What you said was "Hard to see how this misrepresents it". Calling the car a "numbers matching 325 HP" car when the P-O-P clearly shows it was born with a 290 HP 2bbl motor is misrepresentation in my book. Yeah, nothing in that ad is a lie - it does have a numbers matching block and it does have a 4bbl (now...), but the juxtaposition of those statements is meant to imply that this is an original factory-built car and not a frankencar.
IDK, calling a car a 325 hp car when it has got the 4bbl is not a misrepresentation. To say that it was original would be. But that's not the case. Numbers matching typically refers to engine block, drivetrain and frame.. That all you have to bash this car about?
I still say that it would be a perfectly nice (if not very original) 4-4-2 convertible if you could get it for around $35K.
Of course, Joe's point is well taken -- this dealership has demonstrated a willingness to deceive at least twice with regard to this car. Can you really believe anything they tell you?

Agreed. As far as what can you believe? Probably only what you can see or document in person. The car does present well, and aside from being restored to someones personal taste (obviously not a 'survivor' class car) it's simply overpriced. Whether by this dealer or another, the name of the game is to get someone to stroke a check for big $$$. They must believe they're BJ.
The car had a reserve in the low six figures when it was on ebay in 2016 - which was the first time we discussed it here. It was still a "W-30" then. The car was bid to $75K with no sale at Mecum Indy that year. I'd say the chances of getting it for $35K are between slim and none.

Also bid to $69K at Mecum Indy in 2017 with no sale.
