I’m back thanking everyone on the site for help rendered in the past. I had lots of trouble getting the ‘55 to run smoothly. No problems there anymore. My new issue is an annoying rattle in the passenger side door. I think it’s the window. Probably some kind of gasket that the glass runs in but I can’t see it. I’ve already removed the upholstered panel and am now faced with a metal panel behind that. What is the correct procedure for getting inside the door to fix any rattles? Thanks in advance.
First thing to do is identify what is rattling. Now that you have the door panel off, you can bump the door with your hand to try and find the offensive rattle. Does it rattle with the window up, down, or both? If it is a missing piece of window weatherstripping, is it gone, worn away, or just out of place. The weatherstripping can sometimes slide completely down the track into the bottom of the door and simply needs to be put back in place. Is it a loose window track? Loose or missing/broken slide or roller?
Is it possibly any number of actuating rods for the lock or door latch? Lots of options. Use a flashlight or equivalent for looking inside the door for issues.
I’ve opened the inspection plates and looked around. Besides a very old wasp nest, I can’t find anything loose. As the picture shows, the window channel has no molding of any kind. I looked for the channel liner at Fusick and found part number C303. Do you know if that is the correct part for my ‘55 hardtop? What holds it in place? Thanks for your reply.
