Installing chrome insets onto armrest base

Does anyone know how to install the chrome insets onto the driver/passenger side doors on a 72 cutlass convertible?

I can take some pics, but basically its the 12" chrome insert that fits into the beveled area on the armrest attached to the door. Like in this pic (see link)

The back of the inset has three "hooks" for lack of a better word. They are actually more like tabs with pointed edges. Two tabs face right, the last faces left.

Again, I can photograph if necessary but seems like a common install, just not sure if I need clips or what.

thanks in advance!

I just did this yesterday. Straighten the tabs and centre the stainless piece where you want it and mark the armrest. You then drill the appropriate size holes and push the tabs through and bend them over. That's it.

Just as a "heads up" are you replacing old trim or are you adding these? If adding, I believe you'll need a control with a longer splined shaft.
