1968 Cutlass Side Molding Clips that bolt onto body

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone could tell me the size of the clips that I 'd need for my side moldings and peak moldings to mount them back on my body as most of mine were damaged. Or is there a press in clip that would work as well as the bolted ones? Thanks

Give Fusick a call. Not sure if they'll have the exact in stock.

I think these are what you are after. I just did mine. My fenders/door/quarters used some of these that go through holes and have the speed nut/barrel nut inside the fender/door/quarter.

There were also plastic clips that slid over what looks like a raised rivet. I had the 1/2" size and they did not fit. I got another set I thought was 3/8" but I couldn't find the pn. They may have been the 5/16" here. I put the clips on the rivets and then slid the molding over them.

Adam,

Give me a tip on getting the old clips out of the trim and the new in. I for some reason can't do either.

If your trim is still on the car you have to get the speed/barrel nut off the back. The spring part with the stud will still be sticking out of the trim. Watch out for your fender/door/quarter. The plastic clips did not want to slide out. I used constant presure right where the plastic clip was. I SLOWY pulled harder and most of the old brittle plastic clips broke. That was okay because I planned on using new ones on reassembly.

If your trim is off the car, mine had a section of the trim about 2 inches long were the trim does not wrap around completely about 1 1/2 - 2 inches from either end. My old spring clips were rusty and siezed and needes to be wiggled and squeezed to get free. Some broke. If you can get them to move they might slide to the ends and come out at that area. A couple I was able use a small flathead screwdriver or hook the compress the long spring part and wiggle the clip out where it was.

I hope this helps.
