Ignition won't return to lock position
I replaced the ignition switch thinking it was stuck, no. Even with the rod unhooked, it still won't return all the way. I have the column locked in park. I have a new cylinder coming. Of course my chassis service manual has gone missing. Does the butter knife trick actually work to remove the cylinder? The cylinder is very worn, anyone else have this happen?

Are you SURE that the collar that rotates with the backdrive linkage is rotated fully to the counterclockwise position? The lock cylinder won't turn to the LOCK position unless this is the case. FYI, the ignition switch as nothing to do with this.

Yes, my 70 Cutlass S. Yes tried in multiple positions, locked in Park position. All of sudden, it would not retract, had to unhook the battery. The column is currently ripped apart, swapping the tumbler tonight.
