Angry I am actually offended...

Now I'm no die-hard Olds nut (I say that with love and respect, believe me), but a recent Craigslist ad I found actually hurt my feelings, such as they are, for Lansing's finest:

http://toledo.craigslist.org/cto/2174236575.html

WTF? (OK, calming breaths... count to ten...)

"It was built around 1970 modeled after a 1901 surrey wagon by Oldsmobile".

This guy could've called it a Rolls-Royce and been as factual as he is saying it's even LOOSELY based on ANY Olds model.

I checked!

According to both "Setting the Pace: Oldsmobile's First 100 Years" (the Olds Bible itself) and "The Standard Catalog of Oldsmobile, 1897-1997", Olds offered the "Model R" (Curved Dash) model ONLY, and it looks NOTHING like this thing. Even the "Surrey" part's wrong!

WHY, oh WHY say it's an Olds? Seriously, didn't the Roger Smith-era badge-engineering idiocy do enough damage to the Rocket Division's good name?

If he was closer I'd go there and make him take the Oldsmobile-besmirching back (and if it was cheaper I'd buy it just to burn it to the ground in his driveway). But luckily for both of us the only REAL flaming that'll go on is here in this forum.

Maybe I'm just emotional from recent goings-on with my own Olds, but really, it isn't just me who thinks this guy should get kneecapped, is it?...

I don't see anything to get all upset about, even if it is some sort of twisted and evil replica it's just a fake old car, it won't hurt you unless it runs you over.

Several companies made those scaled down early antique cars replicas for parades and special events, some may still be making them.
I don't know what model that is supposed to be replicating or if it should or shouldn't have a curved dash, it does have has a surrey top though?
Maybe they modified the curved dash to put in that windscreen, or maybe it's something totally different.

I really dig the station wagon.

I don't mind the Delivery Wagon either Blue....or maybe it's the guy's outfit. Be cool unless you had to deliver anything bigger than a case of beer.

Label something it is not, and do ANYTHING to sell an item. I understand and share the frustration.
