Hydraulic top down manually?

Does anyone know if there is a way to lower my 1969 442 top manually? Or where I could connect a battery to run the hydraulics? My back seat and truck are full of parts, so I would prefer to dig out the right place.

Thanks yet again,
Bob

You can't manually compress/extend the hydraulic cylinders, so you would have to disconnect the hydraulic ram arms from the top mounting points in order to manually operate the top.
The hydraulic pump motor is mounted to the trunk floor, near the center of the back seat in case you want to get to the electrical connections.

I suppose there is a reason why you can't operate the top with the dash switch.

The wiring is a mess. I could get to the dash switch and apply power there, I assumed it was a relay and that I would likely just burn something up. I got to the motor, but i can't connect power without cutting wires so that's out.

Just run some decent gauge jumper wires to the pump.
There's 2 wires on pump connector - Up & Down.
If your pump is properly grounded along with whatever you use for 12v, applying 12v to one wire makes it run Up - 12v to other wire = Down.
Do not apply 12v across the connector wires or apply 12v to both connector tabs simultaneously & disconnect the connector first.

I just set a battery in the trunk with pair of jumper cables. Connected neg(-) to body ground and clamped a thin long bolt in + cable.
I could touch the bolt to the desired pump connector tab and run the pump.

I don't know about the newer cars but on the 55 I have unbolted the rams at the top, laid them out of the way and lowered the top. If top is down now I would address the switch with a little voltage.... Tedd

Well thanks to your advice I got the pump to run. I am guessing I am low on fluid, it pumps, but nothing moves.

Thanks again for the assist. Got it down, worked great when I got the fluid back in, had to fill it twice. I guess I should be prepared for the fliluid on the floor tomorrow.

Thank you again!
