Hurst dual gate shifter

I am converting to a hurst dual gate shifter from automatic on the column on my 1971 olds cutlass. Someone told me that I really didn't need to spend the money on a console that it would look fine without it. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Also if anyone needs a white bench seat I have one as I am putting bucket seats in. Thanks, Tpayne

Consoled

IMHO I don't think it would, but you be the judge, and yes the dual gate interior w/out seats does detract a little from the comparison, lol.

The 1970-72 factory dual gate shifter is designed to fit in the console. I don't know what you'd do otherwise. The 68/69 H/O used a "mini-console", which is the same one used in the Yenko cars. Repros are available. Aftermarket dual gate shifters also came with a small cover.
