How to post to this site?
Twice now I have composed detailed replies to questions or replies to my question and when I the submit the reply button it asks me to log in and my reply is lost....Even tho I was logged in when I started my reply.
Is there a time limit on posting a reply? I am a slow typer but really....!
How about a warning if there is a time limit?

Yes there is a time limit. I don't know how long, five minutes or less probably.
I think a warning would be nice. A lot of us have had to deal with this, you are not the only one.
I can suggest one thing you can do. Every sentence or two or whatever, hit the preview post button. This resets the timer and gives you an oppurtunity to keep extending your thoughts, while proof reading.

Here's a good solution

What you're describing is not an uncommon and is often encountered by newbies still learning to navigate or use the site.
When you originally log in you'll see a 'remember me' line with a check box beside it. Make sure you enable the check box before logging in. That will allow you to stay connected with the site for a very long time. How long?? Well I've had this puter logged onto the site for over 2 months using that feature. The remember me feature is great because you won't have to worry about losing posts that are normally associated with timeout. I've found that the timeout feature is somewhere around 10 minutes or so? Log out, then log in as I mentioned and you should be golden - no penalty for slow typing!!
The other guys have given you some good tips if you prefer to post that way, but IMO it's a bit of a bother. Have fun posting your info!!
Here's the visual so you can get the gist of what I'm saying. Notice the difference between screen shot 1 and screen shot 2 - remember me box checked or unchecked.

Another thing you'll want to keep in mind. If you want to see a complete history of what's been recently posted (including that which you've posted?) You need to use the Quick Links and 'Today's Posts' feature. It's here:

Enjoy - hope this has been helpful
