I was just wondering how long must a car sit before animals start making nests in it.

I've had bees make a nest inside my fenders and mirror on the Alero after only 3 days of sitting, but right now the last time my Delta was driven was 10 days ago, my Alero has been sitting for 3 days. I'm driving the Alero tomorrow and the Delta on Friday.

I bought a newer car for a DD and the Alero is going to end up in the garage, Delta right outside the garage door, and the Volvo, the new DD, behind the Delta.

I'll still drive the Delta once a week, maybe twice, but the Alero is going to stay in the garage, maybe come out once a month

 

It don't take long, I washed and waxed mine a few weeks ago. That night went out and noticed a brand new wasps nest on my front bumper. Couldn't of been 3 hours from when I finished.

bees: 2 days, 4 hours, 12 minutes
rabbits: 5 days, 15 hours, 4 minutes
squirrels: 10 days, 2 hours, 14 minutes, 45 seconds (them squirrels are very precise creatures)
snakes: 1 day, 1 hour, 8 minutes
mice: 15 minutes
moths: 12 seconds

 

Mice are overnighters, particularly in winter if the car gets driven or sits in the sun to warm it up. I never thought I would have to deal with them under the hoods but I had a war with them this past winter. I think I won but it took some effort. I will know for sure this winter...
