How the heck do you get the grills out? 70 Cutlass

I would like to repair / replace the grills and headlamp bezels. I thought it would be easy, but no. I cant figure it out. Is there a diagram or instructions anywhere? Thanks!

You will have to loosen up the bumper brackets from the frame and slide the bumper forward and down.

I can't say as I had to do that when I stripped my car to have it painted. Interesting.

Get a assembly manual. They're reprinted and pretty cheap and will help you immensely.

Be careful when you lower the bumper. If you have a second person to help that can prevent the bumper from tipping and cracking the grills or headlight surrounds.

I took mine off for repainting and did not have to touch my bumper. The Assembly Manual is very clear about how these are put together. You will have to remove the headlamp bezels.

I took mine out also and replaced them without touching the bumper.

I lowered the bumper. Made it much easier to get grill out & in. In my case.
