How big are my gears???????
Automatics got 2.56:1 standard
4-speed wide ratio (M20) got 3.08:1 standard
4-speed close ratio (M21) got 3.42:1 standard
3-speed = 2.78:1 standard
unless...
it was an inline 6 cyl then it came with 2.78:1
or
the 325 h.p. 350 c.i. 4-speed got 3.42:1 standard
or ...........
This is a basic outline of standard axle ratio's for the F-85, Cutlass and Cutlass S unless it was Canadian built then it changes, there is so many different configurations depending on A/C, transmission, displacement and if it had heavy duty engine cooling & generator pkg. But if you can tell me what trans, displacement, whether it had A/C, H.D. engine cooling & gen. pkg and where it's built I can tell you what it would've came standard.
BUT....
Anyone could've ordered 2.78:1, 3.08:1, 3.42:1, 3.91:1 or (dealer installed)4.33:1 or 4.66:1 as an option in 1969.
Confused yet? I hope not but it can be. I hope this helps and not confuses.
