So, many of us have seen the new Camaros made into various versions of past muscle cars. Some actually are very cool. With GM coming out with the new 2016 Chevelle it would be pretty cool to see a company make a 70 w-30 version.

Who else thinks this would be cool?

 

Now your thinking! Stick LS Engine with a modern take on the 66 W30 shroud & OAI under the bumper intakes for the 66-69 fans or a W25ish hood...cooool! Billet SS1s...coool coool!Huge brakes. Think Hell Cat with an Olds flavor. Hemi Olds anyone!

By the way, I liked the rendering that was going around a couple years ago of the camaro based 442. I'd consider buying one if it had some real performance options.

Cool? Heck yes. But I seriously doubt they'd call it a W-30 as that has brand significance behind it. More likely they'd call it an SS package like they did in the old days, or possibly some of the new nomenclature that clutters up the badging of some models. Chevelle SS - LSX? Yeah I'm good with that. Wish they'd do something radical like resurrect Oldsmobile though as a performance division. Heck they're sort of doing that with Cadillac.

If they r just going to put an olds grill in a Chevelle and then put a chevy engine in it to boot. I say bring back the olds motor or just for get it. Maybe get some of the old olds engineers out of retirement. To bad Joe mondello isn't still around . Would be nice to see him as big as carol shelby.maybe call it a w-3000. Since GM mismanagement killed Olds, I have bought a half dozen new vehicles, none GM. I refuse to reward the GM management weasels by purchasing their stuff. They and their actions were not OK then, and are not OK with me now. For example, GM could have kept Olds, Pontiac, etc. divisions making each responsible for a single car line and keeping the brands alive without so much redundancy. Instead, they acted just like you expect from ignorant bean counters who just kill what they don't understand and can't manage effectively.

Still, what someone did a while back with the camaro turning it into a firebird was cool. I wouldn't be against someone making a kit to have the Chevelle morph into a BOP. Thats about all one could expect today. After all an A body was an A body back in the day just different sheet metal (and of course specific drive trains).

 

So far all the ones I've seen look like Camaros with olds rear lights and goofy front facia.

 

I know it would be an LS basically the same new Chevelle but think about the late 70's we had Trans Am's with a 403 or a 350 Cheby or something else and we had Olds with Chevy and Buick with Olds and on and on.

I just think making one and doing a really good job of it with the new Chevelle into a 70 W-30ish car would be cool.

Right now, the Chevelle is an internet rumor and photoshop. Chevy needs a sporty RWD car that can actually be used for something, unlike the extremely impractical Corvette and somewhat impractical Camaro. A Challenger challenger, so to speak. I would not buy some tribute package baloney to put on there. Olds and Pontiac are dead, leave them alone. A trim package would be like the walking dead.

I'd like to see AMC get reborn. Headquartered and factories outside of Michigan, no unions, and Japanese style efficiency and 100% US parts and labor, it would be a good thing.

 

The only thing that kept AMC alive for so long was the Jeep. Their cars after the early 70's sucked.

 

This is the truth spoken right there .GM killed them don't bring'em back .

 

I thought we were bringing them back and resurrecting them as well. What the heck we rebuild them from the ground up they are 2015 just skinned in the best style of Bodies that were ever offered! JUST MY TWO CENTS!
