hood frame replacing

hood frame replacing

has anyone replaced a hood frame? i have a 69 cutlass s that the hood frame is rusted and want replace it with a 70 frame. i know the latch is different and will need to be changed

If you are talking about the underside frame, it is spot welded to the top plate. Use a spot weld cutter to remove all the spot welds and separate the two. There is adhesive under the diagonals that may also need to be cut.

Note, however, that the 69 and 70 top plates are the same. Since you already know about the latch, you should be able to use the compete 70 hood on a 69. Of course, you may have the problem of needing a "double hump" 69 hood and having a flat 70 hood as a donor...
