You've got way too much paint on that to make it out clearly. DON'T use sandpaper to clean it - that tag is made of aluminum. Use some paint stripper and a stiff nylon brush to clean it off.

From what I can see you definitely have a 1970 442 but I can't see whether that is a 77 or 87 the way the reflections are. If it's a 2 door hardtop holiday coupe it's a 87. If it's a 2 door post coupe it's 77. On the off hand chance it's 67 you have a convertible and a 57 is the CS HT holiday coupe.

Also hard to see if that letter, but I'm betting it is E (Linden N.J. production).

Your PNT code is also hard to read. Looks like 55 (galleon Gold). If that's the case I'm going to guess on the letter for your top (vinyl) It could be a C or G or H. Again hard to see in this pic. C - Blue, G - Green, H - Gold

EDIT: BTW, this is not the VIN it's the cowl tag. The VIN is behind the windshield on the drivers side. A quick check on the TRM code shows it's likely a 3687 model (Cutlass S body style)

Thanks for the reply! Sorry for the misleading post. I do own the car and use to drag race when I was in high school. Im thinking about restoring it now. As far as I know it has always been a race car. I have pics from the 70's I think it is.

The one obvious thing from that trim tag is that this is a very early build car. 08C is the third week of August, 1969. The BDY (Fisher Body) sequence number appears to be 11, which is obviously extremely low. This may be one of the first 1970 442s out of Linden.

Thanks for all the great info! my father sent me the vin#344870E1011241.
He said he will try the paint stripper on the plate tomorrow.

Well that definitely confirms it's a 70 442 holiday coupe body! the other info is:
0 - 1970 model year
E - Linden production
101124 - Note - I think your Dad got carried away with his numbers. There are only 6 digits after the plant identification. All the A body production at the Olds plants in 1970 starts at 100001 and goes up from there. So your car is the 1,124th Cutlass body off the Linden production line for 1970. Joe P was correct with his assessment of early production date coding. If the car still has the original engine, the stamping on the engine block will read 3E0101124

Double wow on the body number! That's the lowest one I've ever seen too.

TR 937 is "Ivory' themed vinyl. It's not white, it's slightly greyish looking compared to pure white. What color is the dash, door panels, carpet and headliner??

The PNT is 55 as we thought - Galleon Gold, but the roof is coded F which is Brown.

the C08 option that is listed on the plate is the Vinyl Rooftop covering. I have not found anyone who could definitively clarify why some options were included on the cowl tag at the Fisher body works and not others.

The dash and door panels are black.
Carpet matches the plum color the car is now.
Headliner looks like a faded out grey or black??
