Help identifying a Part 1971 Cutlass
Hello, I have removed the fenders on my 1971 Cutlass and there is a rectangular rubber bushing/connector with 2 screw holes that the fender screws into. I have attached a pic. Does anyone know what this piece is andwhere I can get it? The screw holes on mine are worn.
you want part number FB702L and FB702R from Fusick

I have a used pair if you don't care to pay Fusicks price for new ones. I can only imagine.
I found some generic exhaust hangars in my local parts store that I had considered trying to use the flexible peice out of. Its not just rubber... its reinforced with cloth.

The rest of the brace is simply a piece of steel tubing. You'll need to take it off anyway to drill out the rivets even if you did find or make a replacement rubber piece.
Have you tried Steele Rubber Products?
They have a sheet of masticated rubber that matches this almost exactly. You just have to cut it to fit. Problem is they only sell it in 4 foot strips at 6.80/ft. Check around your local parts suppliers and see if they can't help.
I know how tough it can be taking the corroded bolts off this rubber. What I do is put the bolt head in a vice, cut off the lower bolt/nut and drill it out. That leaves the original part ready for re-use.
