Help with getting a new title

Long story short- I plan on buying a 50's Olds sitting in a field. Non running, no front end, etc. i want to put this back on the road. Seller has no title and VIN tag looks legit/ unaltered. I thought 'no problem, I bought a title from Broadway title a few years back, maybe $200 tops'. Well I called them up and amazingly the price shot up more than four-fold to $895!! To me, that is flat out price gouging. Where are you guys getting titles from and how much?? Legit companies only with no drama. Thanks for the help

Where are you located? What state? In Texas there is a bonded title where you put up a bond for so many years and if no one claims legal ownership, (they have to have documented proof the auto was titled to them in the past) you are issued an original owners title.

I use Lawrence auto title service in Taylor.
Their fee has gone up from $125 to $150
over last year.

You can pull them up on the web and print
out their application. 1 page, easy peasy.

NJ is really tough. Better to find a friend in another state, get the title there, then transfer it to you.

Lawrence's phone # is 512-352-2788.
Let me know if I can help.
I do know you have to mail back and forth a few
times. Then there is another fee to the bonding co.
Then they will send the final paper work for you to
take to the DMV for your final check stroke. Seems like the bonding is
another $100, then whatever the DMV fees are to regester it.
