Help about 69/71 TH350 Transmission
Hi guys!
Have a 69 Cutlass Supreme, 350ci, 4bbl, auto trans.
Noticed some oil under my car so checked my transmission pan.
As I was under the car, also checked the identification code and found: 71LA079N
So I guess I have a 1971 trans for a 350ci, 4200 series?
What is the "N" letter for?
Need new pan gasket and cooling lines...
I think that they use the same for 69 and 71?
Also, is there any difference if I have a 71 trans instead of a 69?
Thanks a lot for you help!
Chris

No, they are externally identical. Get the lines, gasket, and filter for a 69. The differences will be internal, mainly the details of the shift point calibration. Not a big deal. The only other difference is that a 1971 TH350 will have an electrical connector on the case for the Transmission Controlled Spark system used that year. Just ignore it.
