Anyone going to this? This year it goes across Ohio just south of the Michigan border. I am thinking of meeting up with them in Perrysburg, Ohio. I think it would be really cool to see. I am not going to be a participant in the race.
I went to the start of the race last year, talked to the participants, and looked closely at the cars. There was a gorgeous 1948 Olds (later profiled in JWO) and a 1967 Vista Cruiser with an unfriendly owner. There was an old SAAB rally car--we met some Swedes who were visiting USA and were admiring it. There were oddities (a Peterbilt, for example).
I would do that again. My wife and I both enjoyed it.
I attended in 2014 at one of their overnight stops in Valley Forge, PA. Lots of interesting cars and lots of repairs in the parking lot! I would go again if it was in my area and recommend attending if you can. I do see a 65 442 convert, 48 Olds and a 1931 REO Royele 35 on the list of particpants, amongst the167 cars.
Well, looks like I won't be going, though I think I will regret it. My friend say it would be too much hassle to get dog sitters, etc, and at $5.00 a gallon gas etc, etc. I guess we have enough going on with the Homecoming this weekend and Nats in July. Well if you guys end up going give a report!
As usual I'm late to the party. I had the good fortune to have been at the beginning of the race. It was held not even two miles from my house. I was going to post some pictures but it's already been done and I'm sure people don't want to see doubles. It was a fun event and got to talk to many of the drivers. There was even a couple of guys from France driving there (I think) 1938 Citroen. I met Don Osborne and Brad Phillips from Hagerty.
