grease pencil marks on back sides of fenders
We've usually seen grease pencil marks on the back side of front fenders on W-30s and W-31s (they say W-30 or W-31 for those who are unfamiliar). Has anyone ever seen grease pencil markings on the back sides of fenders of a non W-car?
Yes i just got through putting them back on my drivers fender on my 67. It has a blue 49, and a ?Z. I thought it was an N but my neighbor says its a Z. He by the way was a final body inspector the Buick Plant in late 60's/ early 70's, too cool! Also there is 1943 behind my engine side fan blower housing, an ?M OR W above the gas tank and an X and 943R3 above the hood insulating pad. The 1943 seen i already recreated in same yellow. No idea what it all means but i thought i would put it back on after paint, kinda cool i think. The paper tag on the inner passenger fender was a GM tag with part number i think, barely legible and very crispy. That fender had been replaced somewhere in this cars life, along with the pass. door and very damaged pass quarter which i replaced.

well that's neat steve. I have two other olds with marks on the hood, one of them has something on the core support. I was really only interested in fenders though.
