Good lord there is some JUNK being sold today!!!

I’m building a 4L60 trans for a friend of a friends 57 Chevy. The guy bought the overhaul kit and done other miscellaneous parts, then decided he didn’t want to try a build it himself. I have no clue where he bought the parts, I’m guessing amazon or maybe eBay. The actual overhaul kit is quality Borg-Warner frictions and a TransStar paper rubber kit, the band he bought is definitely something I have never seen before.

I pulled the band out of the trans fluid, I felt what I assumed was a sticker or something similar stuck to the band lining. Upon closer inspection, I noticed the band lining was peeling away from the metal.

The band lining isn’t glued to the band, it’s held in place with double sided TAPE!!!!

The band is obviously a relined part, the band metal has been obviously bead blasted. The tape absolutely blows my mind. Who in their right mind would ever think that would work?!

China. They don't think it will work, they just want your money and to cheat you.

I think so many internet companies don't give an F. So many people won't even give feedback. Let alone return something. Funny world anymore.

You *really* have to pay attention to what you buy online, especially Amazon, anymore. It's absurdly difficult to determine where a seller is based, should be able to click on the seller's hyperlink and "TA-DA!" there it is. Nope. And, if the deal seems too good to be true, it usually is. I had two deeply discounted items purchased on Amazon, leading up to Christmas, among several other purchases. Guess where those deeply discounted items were coming from? And guess what never showed up?

I'll do my research for items online, and try to patronize brick and mortar stores more often to make the actual purchase.

I just bought a gasket set on ebay for a small engine repair. The listing showed the gaskets with all the OEM packaging. The description provided indicated they were OEM and including the correct part numbers. Now I had some of the OEM gaskets new in the packaging, but not all the ones I needed hence purchased this set. What I received were aftermarket in a plain envelop. Wrong composition and all paper thin, unlike the OEM ones I have. I requested the seller send the gaskets listed or provide refund, I'll return what he sent.

His response: I will refund you and put you no my blocked list. I dont need customers like you.
You get your free parts this time and that will be all you get free from us.

A legitimate business would not respond like this. Frankly I getting weiry of all the fradulent behaviour on ebay. Particularly prominent with claims of NOS parts that aren't.

I bought an injector rebuild kit on Amazon for my 96 Oldsmobile 98. When it arrived it didn't include the parts specified, so I returned it since it was Prime. The bad thing is that the injector kit is highly rated and still available. Nowadays online reviews are next to useless. Buyer beware.

The owner showed me the listing for the band, it’s advertised as an Alto wide 2-4 band. Alto is a respectable company, there is no way this junk is made by Alto.

Unfortunately, it’s passed the date it can be returned. I’m sure that plays no small part in the plan to pass off this junk.
