Good deal?

I met a man with a 1966 delta 88, the engine ran fine, and the body was in solid shape besides the rpassenger back quarter panel, the engine was a 425 and had a 175 thousand mile on it, and the interior was torn up, he was asking 2000 dollars, is this an alright deal??, also it was a 2 barrel, could this easily be replaced with a 4 barrel carb ?

If it is a solid car and you want to have some fun with it for a bit I can't see you taking a loss at $2000 Canadian if you choose to sell it in a few years.

Without photos and more info, the car could be worth anywhere from a million bucks to scrap value. You haven't even told us the body style. I've found that people have a very widely varying definition of "solid shape". At 175K miles, if the front suspension and steering have not been rebuilt that will be necessary (and some of the parts are not readily available). You can very easily spend $10,000 to make this a $5,000 car.

You can switch from 2 to 4 barrel carburetor by buying an adapter. The correct way to do it is to get a 4 barrel carburetor intake manifold.
