I removed the tank on my '67 VC to have the underbody Dry Ice Blasted.
To my surprise, looks like a previous owner replaced the tank. It appears to be in excellent shape and it must have more than one application (or did someone do some custom work?).
Look at the pictures and see a sealed fill neck and the part number. Very interesting.
The inside of the tank is really clean.
I didn't even think about a coating, but it's a good idea.
If the tank is clean, coating it is a really bad idea.
Leave it as is. The coating could come loose and cause problems.
If the tank is rusty and pin holed, then coating may save it temporarily.

That part number is a spectra fuel tank part number . Yes if has been customized to fit your VC. I completely agree with Charlie. I have seen several tank coatings of different brands fail..

It probably started life as an El Camino/Chevelle wagon tank and modified. I researched this for a buddy building a 66 Vista and that was as close as we could get.

That is exactly what I found out, when looking for a tank for my 64 vc . Part number on OP's tank is a Spectra tank, for a Chevelle station wagon. OP's tank has been modified. I had my tank cleaned and coated by, a professional. Coating failed , 2 years latter.
I coated the fuel tank of my 71 98 with the POR-15 kit over 10 years ago and it hasn't failed. I also coated the side tank of my diesel Bullnose truck 2 years ago and it's fine.
I didn't drop either tank, but I haven't found bits of coating in either fuel filter. Be aware that if you decide to coat the inside of the tank you need to wear a respirator and PPE. It's nasty stuff. 😷
That tank is for a Chevelle wagon, I was going to buy one for my Vista and have it modified exactly like that. The Vista filler goes under the frame rail due to the under floor storage while the Chevelle filler goes over the frame rail. I couldnt find anyone that I trusted to weld it like that. The Vista tank isnt reproduced as far as I could find out.
