I've been restoring a bunch of inside rear view mirrors & I had heard there were at least 2 different stem lengths & thought I'd share what I've found. So far I've found 3 different ones. The one in the center is for the 2 door & maybe 4 door? cutlasses from '69-'72. The shorter one is from a Vista & the longer one is from a 98. Not sure about the Toros. or Deltas but I would guess they would be the longer ones also? Also the lighted mirrors have a hole drilled through the shaft for the wire to pass through, the non lighted ones do not.
Long one is 5 1/4, middle, 4 1/4, & shorty is 3 1/4"

Repro posts...at least the ones for like a 1970 'vert, they don't have a hole in them for the wire.
