Seriously, if you don’t have the available funds to drive your classic car whenever you want, then ask yourself why you have a classic car instead of a Prius.

Oh, I would. Just long enough to sell it!! I’m sure it would **** off the Prius crowd knowing I sold it to buy more classic cars or classic parts.

I will never understand the way some people think. I can’t tell you the number of people who bitch about the lousy gas mileage of their older, paid for car, and then trade it off for a newer, more fuel efficient car, that come with a car payment!!!

I can buy a lot of gas for the cost of a car payment.

It has been a couple weeks since a thread has been closed due to political discussion. Some people just can’t help themselves.

A lot of new cars get bad gas mileage too but nobody complains about that they use the classic car as an excuse. I will take a classic olds any day of the week no comparison

Exactly.

On my first “real” job I was driving my 1970 Supreme 60 miles each way. A coworker was astounded and thought I was paying a fortune on gas compared to his new car with 30 MPG. I told him my monthly gas bill was around $150, insurance was $20, and no car note. I asked him how much was his monthly bills for his 30 MPG car, and he sheepishly replied $330 for car note, then insurance and gas on top of that.

That's why I built this Bonneville. 2002 Camaro drivetrain- Series 2 3800/4L60E, 23mpg, sees 100 miles/day going to the office

I think a Prius with a 455 would be the best of both worlds

Fleming... I hate it and love it all at the same time! I rather enjoy seeing moredoors that no one would've thought to save, still on the road. Of course, being in Michigan, it's especially rare.

Is 23 your overall? I bet that sucker gets into the low 30's highway cruising.

Yeah, that's an average. It doesn't really fluctuate much. It might get into the 30s if I had a real time readout, but that's usually short lived when a German E350 needs some English lessons.

The '05 Lesabre I sold a couple months ago averaged 27-28 and had a real-time readout, so I'm guessing that Bonnie is a bit heavier, but would still likely get into the low 30's. Cool car, great powertrain swap.

I'm sure I'm one of only a very few people familiar with both the Olds BBO mounting scheme, and the Toyota MC platform mounting scheme, but of all the engine swaps that wouldn't work, this probably wouldn't work the most!

Love the Bonneville but I am biased and it too will get an LS. Road trip car.ita been off the frame and pretty much everything has been redone. Even boxed the frame and I might make a hitch to tow the race car to the track

No. We have been here before and will be here again. It is the price of admission if you enjoy your old cars, if not get rid of them.

Your car is a dare to be different car, a good commuter. I have my Olds, my daily driver, currently making it a serious, long distance driver. I also have a 2000 Dodge Dakota, POS Winter beater, long paid for. We have our 2017 Dodge Challenger GT AWD as our other Winter/All Season driver and boat tow vehicles to lakes with decent launches, gets over 20 mpg towing, 35+ just cruising doing 65 to 70 mph. I would use the Olds to tow the boat, RWD are terrible on slimy launches. Unfortunately in the North, we have to drive less rot prone, more disposable vehicles for 6 months of the year.
