front fender inside markings questions for 70 W31.

What’s the usual thing to see inside the front fenders of a 70 W31 as far as assembly markings put there by a worker?

Scribbling to designate it has to be punched for the W31 emblems etc.

Some people have lives to live, and aren't on here 24/7.

Not only do you have to get the color and the location right, you need to determine if it was done by a left handed or right handed person

Similar to W-30.but says W-31 in a white pencil. Not sure what type they used on the assembly line.

why is it weird? This is something that was done on the assembly line to designate the fender needed to be stamped for W31 emblem holes.

it’s interesting to me. Take a hike if you don’t want to know this stuff

So why not post pictures? That's the vague.

White scribble on the inside of the fenders. Typically, just '31' is written which would denote the proper pressing for the fender holes.

If he had pictures he wouldn't ask the question. And you wonder why.

Will the Judges make you remove the fender to inspect if it has the proper location and color?

So I have never seen any markings like that. Is that a common thing? Anyone have pictures like that?

all fenders had some kind of assembly line markings to tell someone down the line to punch whatever was needed.

the F85’s I’ve seen have a circle half way up the fender because that’s where the emblem went on those. My old W31 had white 31 scribble inside them. I’ve also seen other 31’s which were also white.

I have an odd one where the 31 is black and barely visible because inside of the fenders were black. It has the white circle where the F85 goes. I’ll post pics when I can.

it’s not a big deal and I’m sorry if people got upset🤣🤣. It’s just something to prove that not everything is as black and white as we’re are told, literally

Found on my w car when tearing down several years ago. The picture is actually easier to see than it was in person. Grease pencil marks must last a long time

Just jokes.

How about people remove their heater boxes to show the VIN on the body?

who’s thinking anything? It’s just a little trivia about the way things were done during assembly.

this is the first time I’ve seen the marking in black. This is from a one owner documented car that never had its fenders off since it came from GM..kinda cool to uncover where this one was hidden.

fenders had to come off for the resto anyway. I’m just showing what was found.
