Florida title question
Hi everyone.
Here's a question for you Florida-types. Does every car, regardless of year, need to have a title in Florida?
I ask because I bought a car years ago, long story longer, finally paid if off but somewhere along the lines the bank lost the title. They are willing to help me get a new title, but I'm in Georgia and the title is from when I lived in Illinois, and I'm having trouble getting the point across to IL that if they send the title to the address on the front, I'm not going to get it.
The title is worthless here in Georgia because this car has been registered without the title(it's a 64) so the State won't issue a Georgia title. But, I'm thinking that some time in the next few years I'd like to move to Florida and I don't want them to see that it once had a title and now doesn't, and want me to go back to Illinois and start this whole hoop-jumping over again.
If a car doesn't need a title after a certain age in Florida I'm done. If I can just fill out an application when I get there for a title that's fine. If they are going to squawk about the lost title, I might as well keep at it and be done with it before I move.
Any ideas? Thanks everyone.
