FiTech fuel injection system question.

I drove my Olds this morning to get the family donuts and I had a thought about the FiTech fuel injection system. Would something like this work to replace the fuel command center?

https://www.amazon.com/GOLDENROD-496-3-WATER-BLOCK-FILTER-Filter/dp/B0000AXE6C/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1509197572&sr=8-2&keywords=goldenrod+fuel+filter https://www.amazon.com/GOLDENROD-496-3-WATER-BLOCK-FILTER-Filter/dp/B0000AXE6C/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1509197572&sr=8-2&keywords=goldenrod+fuel+filter

I've read that alot of folks have trouble with the command center. If you don't use it or a suitable replacement then you have to apparently modify your fuel tank.

I installed this fuel filter on my truck. Of course, on my truck it replaces the stock water separator since it's a diesel. I thought since the command center is just a surge tank maybe this concept used on diesel trucks would work with hot rods too.

My diesel truck has 2 water separators / fuel filters. This one between the tank and mechanical fuel pump and another stock one between the mechanical fuel pump and the injectoion pump.

For a hot rod running a FiTech system you could conceivably use your mechanical fuel pump to feed this fuel filter and an electric pump to feed the fuel injection system from this filter.

Anyways, it's just a thought. Tell me what you think. I would especially like to hear from you folks that are running FiTech or other EFI systems.

I ran a Fitech set up on a SBC Nova that worked great. I used the fuel command center without issues. I read about the early batch of fuel command centers having problems but I think they engineered the bugs out of what is on the market now. You can also just run a high pressure electric fuel pump and not use the fuel command center. Fitech sells one here: http://fitechefi.com/products/40005/
Going this route does require running a return line.

I was happy with my set up and plan on running it again in my Olds. I need a new fuel tank anyway, so I’m thinking about doing the Fitech in-tank pump this time around.

I didn't know you could run a FiTech unit with a hi pressure pump and a return. That would probably be the easiest route unless you go with the command center.

Edelbrock makes a tank that's a plastic material. I think it would disburse heat better than Fitech's unit

I've also seen other manufacturers that market surge tanks for racing. I guess there are plenty of options, just something I was thinking about.
