Firewall pad

Firewall pad

Anyone who has ever tried to install a reproduction firewall pad probably knows what a challenge it can be. They just don't fit well. Has anyone tried any other kind of material instead? Dyanmat or something similar. If so what did you use and how did it work? I just don't want to face doing another repop cowl pad on my car

Helped my son do his on his Chevelle. He use a aftermarket one, worked OK, He had the complete dash out, so was not bad.

this is why I carefully saved my original. fits like a glove and has the correct indentations unlike the crappy reproductions.
the firewall fasteners can be a bit of a challenge to install also. I have extra available if you need some or break some trying to install.

Who are the sources for the repos? I’m having trouble finding one for my 1965 88 series cars. Once again, unsure if Impala will be even close.

I posted a link to a heat resistant fabric that I read about on the HAMB. I've never used it myself, I just thought of this thread when I read about it. It's quite expensive, if you're interested here it is:
