fineally drove the 41 w 455

put a spedo and temp and oil pressure gauge in it
cold is about 30 to 40 psi HOT IDLE IS 10psi
IS IT A DRIVE IT OR A TEAR IT DOWN ops

no other noises except through the firewall sounds like my 303 olds in the 53 chev lifters clicking all over the place
but this one has twice the power than the 303 it is about a 1970 engine

car was built by junkyard so thats where the engine come from
did not see a fram oil filter on it
think the last owner put fresh oil in it proabbly 10-30 we will guess, his invoices are all in town

if i win the top chop in salina i will pull the engine and am wondering if it needs a crank job at minimum??

or should i put er on the road and see if it all stays together or burns oil?? seems OK, got a tranny puking on the front seal but it sat in someones garage for a long time after partial assembly
my 303 olds had the rods knocking when i put that in in 1965
this had got headers on it too but dont seem to have any knocks but has teribble clicky lifters till it warms up give her a little dexron in the oil

Dextron will cause lower oil pressure - maybe wipe the bearings!
If it was me, I'd pull the valve covers and check the rockers and stands, along with the pushrods for correct length.
Maybe 20-50 oil to get the pressure up a little - and shim the bypass spring.
That'll get ya by for a while!

i've been down this road, it'll run for a while but it won't live long... i'd do a crank job before i drove it any more! $100 for a crank grind, $100 bucks for bearings, $40 for an oilpump add a pan gasketand you are still under $300... trust me if you run it until it fails you'll never get it back in action for that $$.
besides this will give you a chance to fix that tranny leak...
