Carlisle
I'll be there from Texas. Looking for parts to finish my 55. Made Hershey last year. Awesome, so thought I would check out Carlisle this year, before heading up into New England area to check out fall foliage.

The other thing about Hershey is that the vendors all seem to close up at 3:00 or so, apparently so they can make the early bird special.

Been going to Carlisle for what seems a lifetime. I was there the first year, and have only missed a handful since. Old age keeps me from spending too much time walking the field. I sold all my Oldsmobile parts last year, so this year, I will be bringing only miscellaneous junk that I want to get rid of.
That is why they call me JUNK!!! IG 14/15/16 & 20

Spring swap was unusually cold and now the forecast isnt getting any better with rain most every day! Thursday looks like the best day as of now. Trouble with rain is most venders have everything under cover.... it sucks!
#27
Yeah, the problem is this tropical storm coming up the coast. The one thing I have learned over the years is that the weather predictions aren't accurate for more than 12 hours in advance. Soaking rain tonight, then 30-40% chance for the rest of the week. I'll be there. Just pack extra shoes and socks.

Fall Carlisle
Yeah, I'm in Nashville tonight and plan to be there Thursday afternoon and Friday. Keeping an eye on the tropical storm and hoping for the best. Not having been there, I presume the meet isn't held on asphalt like Hershey is.

There are asphalt walkways, but the swap meet spaces themselves are in grass.
With work and home projects piling up, and the wet weather forecast, I have decided to skip. See you at Spring Carlisle !

Was there today and got the whole thing covered before the rain started around 3:30 PM. Had steady rain all the way back to Trenton NJ. Vendors and parts for sale and cars were less than usual. My purchases? A left rear 67 Cutlass Supreme wheelwell trim, a few things from Fusick and a stick flywheel for the 67 wagon for 75 bucks. I did like the 70 Toro GT there but overpriced at 11 G's.

Spent part of the day selling and most buying (on the assumption that the rest of the weekend will be washed out). Found a factory manual trans hump for $25. Got weatherstrip for my 72 442 as well as the 86 Chevy truck project. Also scored a rust-free door shell for the truck. Picked up the bumpers and other chrome for the VC from the plater. Got one 2.5" trumpet from the Pypes scratch-and-dent box. Picked up some tools and supplies (saw blades, seam sealer, replacement light sockets, etc). Saw a complete (air cleaner to pan) 455 from a mid-70s Toro with a $250 asking price. The TH425 was also available. I may go back and check the price if the rain starts tomorrow.
The weather prediction is improving, with the rain potentially holding off until late Friday afternoon and ending Saturday morning. Unfortunately many vendors packed up and left today. Many more were talking about leaving Friday afternoon. We'll have to play it by ear.
Walked over to the auction this evening. There was a nice 66 442 Holiday Coupe 4spd and three 68s - a Cutlass, A 442, and a "tribute" car. The latter was a featured car on display in the conference center. The car had all the details of a "correct" restoration, including chalk marks and GM-labeled hoses. It even had the W36 stripes in the correct place! Unfortunately, the builder went to all this trouble and kept the 350 engine (now painted bronze). Seems like a waste.
Oh, and naturally the real 442 also had W36 stripes - incorrectly positioned as usual. Not only that, but the stripes were continuous under the emblems instead of breaking.
Again, why go through all that trouble just to do a half-@$$ed job?

My friend Warren points out that even with half the vendors gone, Carlisle is still considerably larger than just about any other swap meet we ever go to (not counting Hershey, which is finally supposed to be nice weather next week).

I made all my purchases on Thursday. We didn't get there till 11. I got the flat all covered. on Friday I did the Hill. Stopped by to meet Joe and it looked like fort knox. Eric stopped by, only one vender on the hill around where you would have been. I picked up a charcoal canister bracket for $18. its really nice, some minor pitting but mostly original paint still. A 70-72 console not cut no cracks minus a lid and hinge for $50. A console top with no damage to hinge holes $25. some smalls from fusick. good trip overall. maybe the spring will be better!
