Fall Carlisle ?

Seems Carlisle is still a go. Last Fall was disappointing and there was no Covid. This year's Spring event was pushed to June. With all that was going on it was better than I expected but some of the "regulars" vendor wise did not show or scaled back what they brought. With so many car things cancelled this year I am looking forward to this, hope I am not disappointed....

Planning on being there. We've moved to spaces NA12-13, right by the cinderblock bathrooms. Should be somewhat more traffic there. The north field is almost completely open right now - all those spaces are available. Some larger vendors are still only planning on bringing pre-sold orders for pickup and not actually setting up, which is disappointing.

Fall Carlisle IS on... All Carlisle shows all summer have gone on...
Carlisle is in Cumberland County -- a safe area in Pennsylvania -- 82 acres, outdoors, a six day show, and 11 hours a day...You will see far smaller gatherings than in your local supermarket or Walmart.....
Carlisle has gotten calls from Hershey vendors who want to vend there this fall, because Hershey has cancelled long ago...
This has the potential to be a very full show of vendors....

We all already know we won't have the usual huge crowd of Europeans, Scandinavians, and Canadians... So our sales will be compromised....

Maybe that will be good for buyers, as they will have less competition, and won't be outbid by those who will pay more.....to be determined... But you have to be here to find out !!!

I am in I L 78 - 80, middle of the infield ( I ) row L spots 78 - 80, and have plenty of glorious Oldsmobile parts among my spread...

See you there, Joe P. and Warren.... Be safe everyone.. Come and enjoy one decent show in this mess of a year known as 2020. If we all had 20 / 20 we would have cancelled this year !!!!
Yours, Craig....

In June we wore a mask to enter. Social distancing was easy to do there. If I was to be near a person or enter an occupied vendor stand or have words about something to someone the mask went on.

Yes, masks are required for entrance (it is smart to have one with you, anyway...).
Once you are inside it is up to you. I would say, at the twice postponed Spring Carlisle, about
50 % wore it all the time,. About 25 % , like me, had it around their chin, ready to fire up at any moment, and the remaining 25 % had it in their pocket.

At the Chrysler's @ Carlisle, 3 weeks later, the percentages were more like40 % all the time,
20 % around the chin, and 40 % in their pocket...

Those were the only two (2) shows I was at.... I was not at the rinky dink G M show, the useless Ford show, the Import show, the Truck show, or Corvettes @ Carlisle... All DID happen, but I wasn't at any of them.....

Spread over 82 acres, outdoors, happening over 6 days, and 11 hours a day --- there are no 250 person gatherings anywhere.... All 7 shows = 0 incidents or issues....

Come join the fun, enjoy a CAR SHOW, regain your sanity !!!!! See ya' there, Craig...

This is exactly what I did the day I was at Corvettes at Carlisle. I’ve been very cautious all summer and this felt pretty safe overall. Just didn’t go into any of the indoor displays. Enjoy the show.

Agreed, vette442,
I am coming from Long Island, New York, one of the hotspots of coronavirus in the nation.... We ABSOLUTELY HAD TO DO serious social distancing to "flatten the curve" back in
March, April, and May; when deaths were rampant and all around us up here....
I would not have gone if I had serious fears... And I must confess, I == D I D == have initial fears ..... But, once I saw how everyone behaved and acted (we were all cautious, aware, and
Intelligent .... None of us wanted to DIE out there....), my fears were alleviated...
As I have said countless times then and since, we were far safer there than in your local supermarket or Walmart....

The best part of our old car hobby is that we are respectful, smart, and not a bunch of drunken 23 year olds flocking to the beach....

Anyone out at Carlisle? Just wondering what the crowd/vendor situation looked like? How is it compared to the last Spring show? I'll be out there tomorrow and Saturday, just wanted to get an idea of what to expect.

Been here since Wednesday morning. A lot of vendors came in overnight. The north field is sparse, but the rest is pretty full with vendors. Fusick is here with the big trailer.

Just got back, beautiful day.... Some Olds vendors there and Fusick where I made most of my purchases. About .0001% wore masks. Was not worried at all, easy to keep distance.... It was a fun day.

Vendors are North of 90 % in Infield and Main Field... North Field and Hill itself... Not...

Aisles were halfway crowded -- all day -- lot of people "just strolling through the park" -- walking through the middle of the aisle not even looking left or right (what were they even here for ???? Seriously ??? Just clogging the aisles.....)

No one at risk... I actually think about 25 % wearing masks , 25 % like me had mask around chin, ready to fire up if necessary... Other 50 % had it tucked in the pocket... No gigantic gatherings anywhere... You are far far safer here than at your local supermarket or closest Walmart....

Weather will be absolutely gorgeous.... Come enjoy the show , the sunshine, and your sanity...
And swing by I L 78 - 80 for one spectacular spread !!!!

Safe travel, see y'all here...... Craig....

Glad to hear it's still on. A few of my friends and club members went out to the Ford Nationals and had a great time. They said it was not quite half of what it usually is. Not many vendors. They said there was enough going on to make it fun.
If everyone stays smart and does the right thing it will be a blast. Have fun and stay safe everyone!!!
@mobileparts I hear you about COVID in the spring on LI. It was brutal. I live in Lower Westchester and Babylon, it definitely was a tense time.

Saw Joe P. and Warren a couple days ago -- we were so busy conversing, I forgot to show him a couple of GLORIOUS OLDSMOBILE parts I just picked up !!!!

My friend, Dr. Richie works in the hospital on Rockaway Avenue in the heart of Brooklyn.... I was speaking to him one evening in April -- and I asked him if he had those refrigerated trucks behind his hospital????
He replied, " Yes, three of them, and they are constantly full....."

Anybody who believes this pandemic was a made up overhyped bunch of nonsense --- you should have seen what New York was going through between late March and mid May...
We have 33,000 + deceased of the nation's 210,000 fatalities now -- and while the numbers
Are NOT perfect, because of hospital fundings, federal compensation, etc., etc.,
You CAN believe that 30,000 + perished in New York because of Covid-19....

So be safe everyone... Do not relax...Pay attention to all the guidelines for your personal safety.... And get your tushy down here to Fall Carlisle these next two days ...... To enjoy
Your Freedom, Fresh Air, Sunshine, A Super Car Show.... It will be good for your sanity !!!!!!!

Figures 1st time in years the weather is perfect is the year we decided to pass. Wasn't so much fear of plague as a little common sense will help there, but we weren't sure what the restaurant and food court situation would be.

Granted we haven't seen NYC covid numbers here with about 1% of that area's population. But the moment it became politicized was the moment people began doubting it. Foo to both sides for that.

Enjoy yer Carlisle run, stay safe, and eat one-a them girondous Italian sausages for me! Cup of hand cut fries too! While I eat my baloney sammitch...🙄

Well, for those wondering, it was absolutely gorgeous here at Carlisle today... You couldn't wish for anything better !!!
A lot of people here today, if you didn't know any better, you would think it was a NORMAL Friday at Fall Carlisle in a NORMAL year !!!!
If we had the usual number of Europeans, Scandinavians, Canadians, added to the mix --- we actually might have had social distancing issues....
As it was, it was beautiful, and the buying (reporting from all "precincts") was strong.
Every vendor in here that I knew and spoke to, was happy with today's results.

You still have time... Do the ol' 3 A.M. thing -- and get here for early Saturday... 98 % of the vendors are still here.... You can have a nice day here tomorrow !!!!
Craig.... Out....

Agree with mobileparts. A beautiful day at Carlisle! And really needed after quarantining so long! Found a set of books to help me assemble my 56, too! 1960 Parts and Accessories catalogs. Covers from 1950 to 1960.

I will keep that in mind! So far I've only done the wagon conversion, and chop, working on the chassis now, but not very many Olds parts left on it! Driveline is all modern, as well. Do you have body trim parts? Weatherstrip, gaskets?
